Liora Bresler is a Professor at the College of Education, College of Fine and Applied Arts (School ofArt and Design and School of Music), and Fellow at the Academy of Entrepreneurial Leadership atthe University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She holds BA's in Piano Performance andPhilosophy, and an MA in Musicology, from Tel-Aviv University; and an M.A and Ph.D. in Educationfrom Stanford University.Bresler is a Distinguished Fellow in NAEA (2010). Recent honors include the Edwin Ziegfeld Awardfor distinguished international leadership in art education by the United States Society for EducationThrough Art (2007), and the Lin Wright Special Recognition Award to Theater Education by theAmerican Alliance for Theatre and Education (2007). For teaching, she has won the DistinguishedTeaching Life-Long Career Award at the College of Education (2004), and the Campus Award forExcellence in Graduate and Professional Training at the University of Illinois (2005). Bresler serves asan editor for the book series: Landscapes: Aesthetics, Arts and Education, for Springer. She was theco-founder (with Tom Barone, 1999-) of the International Journal for Arts and Education. Bresler haswritten over 100 book chapters and papers in leading journals of arts and education including theEducational Researcher, Studies in Art Education, and Music Education Research. In addition to herwork in curriculum in arts education, and qualitative research methodology (including arts-basedinquiry, recent research interests include Performing Arts Centers as Experiential Learning; andEducational Entrepreneurship in Academe and schooling. Recent publications include theInternational Handbook of Research in Arts Education (2007, Springer), Knowing bodies, movingminds: Towards embodied teaching and learning (2004, Kluwer), The arts in children's lives: Context,culture, and curriculum (Bresler and Thompson, 2002, Kluwer) and International Research inEducation (Bresler and Ardichvili, 2002 by Peter Lang). Her work has been translated to German,French, Portuguese, Hebrew, and Spanish. Bresler has been invited to give keynote speeches on sixcontinents, and has given invited talks, seminars and short courses in thirty-some countries spanningEurope, Asia, Africa, North and South America, and Australia. In addition to her position at Illinois,Bresler is a professor II (visiting) in Stord University, Norway, and an Honorary Professor at the HongKong Institute of Education. Most recently, she has served as a visiting professor at StockholmUniversity, and an advisory professor at the Hong Kong Institute of Education.
