Abstract:
The Greek «Aesop Romance» has reached us in two main versions ; one of them has been named Wester manniana, after its first editor A. Westermann, while the older one is known simply as Vita G- To avoid the cumbersome name of the older version and to honor its distinguished first editor Β. E. Perry, the term Perriana is introduced here. The main purpose of the paper is to suggest a series of emendations in the Perriana• In the process of discussing the corrupted passages emended herein, attention is paid to related linguistic problems and to words not listed in Liddell - Scott - Jones which have escaped the notice of other students of the text (see references above, p. 255, n. 17) ; also, a previously unnoticed fragment of Menander is identified…..
