Abstract:
This is an extended version of a speech delivered at the Zappeion High School for Girls, at the beginning of the 1985-1986 school year. Education, as an intellectual function between the ones who are educated and the ones who educate, is characterized by love and is embedded in the family, and in the social and natural environment. Education, thus defined, aims at shaping the young and immature persons, at making sure they internalize the spiritual/intellectual goods that would enrich their knowledge, that would solidify their character and morality, and that would make them capable and competitive enough to lead a successful life in today's world
