Abstract:
This paper deals with the issue of economic development in the underdeveloped countries. The issue is approached through the concept of economic surplus. At first, a theoretical analysis of the concept is attempted as this is encountered in the basic literature. By employing this tool analysis, a theoretical relation of the absorbing of the surplus is sought after which is the direct result of the existence of specific structures in the basic sectors of the underdeveloped economies and of the issue of underdevelopment being raised. It is, as of this, concluded that the underdeveloped countries remain unchanged because the biggest part of their economic surplus is absorbed by the developed ones.
