Abstract:
The present paper is an attempt to reveal the globalisation process of the cement industry. Cement is a homogeneous product and its production processes have been known for a long time. The competition process, within the industry, is also part of common economic knowledge. Locating decisions are constrained by proximity of access to quarries and the very high transportation cost for this heavy product. Given these characteristics, the globalisation of cement markets seems to be of little significance. However it has been taking place. Thus the study of this industry is very useful as it casts light on some dimensions of the globalisation process.
