Abstract:
The claim that the paper lays is that the analysis of entrepreneurship as a separate factor and its compensation for its contribution to production has as a prerequisite the analysis of the source of profit. The idea is that, if the source of profit is not known, not much can be said about its allocation to its contributing factors. Although all schools of economic thought define profits in the same way that is the difference between revenues and costs, nevertheless when it comes to what determines this residual income there is anything but agreement. Historically, the quest of the source of profits led to the invention of the concept of entrepreneurship and its compensation for its contribution to production.
