Managing change and control systems in bank organisations : A case study

Abstract:
In an effort to improve operational effectiveness, but at the same time reduce expenses, banking institutions adopt several control mechanisms to further the attainment of their goals. The success stands on management’s ability to control systems, procedures, and resources, in a way that strategic goals are achieved. The current paper presents the role of management control systems and assesses the effect of using such systems in employee’s behaviour. Through a broad analysis of the Greek banking market, it is being particularly examined the changing process in of a large Greek Bank organization towards its corporate culture and implement these systems, with the view to ensure the achievement of predetermined strategies. This attempt regards to strengthen Bank’s position in the market through the restructuring of the organization, the control of operational costs, the management of its identity, and the adoption of modern technological advances.
