Abstract:
Nearly ten years ago, at a conference in Ioannina, one of the authors (J.K.K.), tried to point tothe main stages of the Gravettian/Epigravettian in the stratigraphical sequences in the Balkans.stressing their associations, especially in the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), with the Danubebasin, the associations that resulted from the refuge role of the Balkans for Central Europe (Kozlowski1999). Now, we would like to offer some remarks on the relation between the Balkans andAnatolia during the maximum and the end of the Last glacial period. Of special importance is thequestion: did Anatolia, at that time, belong to the European cultural province or did it belong to theNear East sphere?
