Abstract:
The main aim of this work is to examine the concentration (ratio), which is regarded as one of the most important elements of market structure of an industry. The importance of concentration lies in the fact that the concentration ratio by itself gives a useful preliminary idea of "Whether monopolistic, oligopolistic or competitive conditions (behaviour) is likely to prevail in an industry, which, in turn, affect the market performance of the industry in terms of a number of perameters f.i. (quantity and quality) of output, prices, profits, productivity, productive efficiency, technological progressiveness, as well distribution of income, allocation of productive resources e.t.c."
