Abstract:
Modern urban and regional analysis demands arapid and accurate system of mapping a wide rangeof societal information. Conventional cartographycannot satisfy this demand and the planner andresearcher have turned to the computer. CMAPis only one of many systems of computer mappingbut it is easily adapted for use with overlays. Theadvantage of this system is that once the computerbase map is operational only the overlays need to bechanged to vary the maps. All of the South Carolinamaps presented in this paper were produced on thesame computer base map.
