Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to describe personal non-wealth income inequality in Greece covering the total of the economically active population as well as the group of pensioners for a number of years that data are availablbe (1962- 1975). The computational procedure does not follow the traditional treatment of the subject i.e. the use of tax return data, but a rather complex and indirect way that ensures coverage of the total population that receives income. The results show a trend towards worsening of inequality. A side result is the estimation of tax evasion which is also shown to exhibit a worsening trend.
