Abstract:
The aim of the present research is to detect the degree and the quality of the conjugal relation of parents and reveal its effect on the relation between the male parent and his children. The research was based on a total of 141 fathers and 141 adolescents originating from Crete. It was conducted by means of questionnaires which were filled in by the subjects of the research. The focus of this research in on five major points: a. Conjugal fulfillment and its effect on the husband's role as a father, b. Distribution of household between a husband and a wife and its effect on the father's behavior towards his children, c. Quality of the conjugal relation and its effect on the father - adolescent relationship, d. Quality of the conjugal relation and its effect on the parenting style and e. Quality of the conjugal relation and its effect on the family spirit. The results of the research showed that harmonious conjugal relations have a positive effect on the relations between fathers and adolescents.
