The role fathers play in contemporary families and especially in child caring, changed a lot during the last decades. However, many more changes are needed in order to be able to say that the participation of the father in children's everyday activities is up to a satisfactory point. The present study analyzes the factors that encourage and the factors that discourage the participation of fathers in family matters. It also examines the degree and the way fathers get involved in different aspects of everyday activities. Finally the results of the active participation of fathers in children's mental, emotional and social development are being analyzed.
