Abstract:
Empathy is a competence, focused on interpersonal relations which develop between teacher and student in the teaching context. The present study argues that when a curriculum is appropriately designed, it can contribute greatly towards propitious empathie relations. The study aims to define a context of principles for curriculum designation, which permits and facilitates the development and display of empathie relations in the classroom setting. The curriculum which facilitates the establishment of empathie relations in the classroom, aims towards whole - child development, focuses on student-centered pedagogical approaches, activates student imagination and intuition, acknowledges differentiated personal performance, concentrates on the cognitive, emotional and social development of the student and respects differentiation in the school setting.
