The theme of this essay is the sketching up of an introduction to the Philosophy of Education. The undertaking began with a clearing up of the title's meaning in accordance with its underlying subject matter. Then, things that came under consideration were: the emergence of the Philosophy of Education in the English and German speaking countries, what and how it came out, and parallel to that its relationship to Philosophy as such, Epistemology, Pedagogy, and the self ruling Sciences of Education, along with the role of Philosophy of Education among them. Finally, under consideration, but not detailed, came also the fortunes of the Philosophy of Education in Greece.
