I. The Peloponnese in Italian literary texts (15th-17th cent.)After the coquest of Byzantium by the Turks, the major centers of the Peloponnese (Moreas), such as Methoni and Koroni, remained in the hands of the Venetians, whilst in the 16th century they were also lost to the Turks. At the same time, the 16 th century marks an important turning point in the history of Italy, which, after the glory of the Renaissance, is now subject to decline and fragmentation. In this context, Italian literary figures such as Sannazaro, Romano, Guicciardini, Fazio degli Uberti, Arentino, Garzoni, Ramusio, Lubrano and others, evoke the Peloponnese with a kind of romantic nostalgia, as a lost paradise full of ancient myths and exotic beauty.II. Δαντικοί Ήρωες από τήν Ελλάδα - Προ-ανθρωπιστικά Σύμβολα"Ενα άπό τά ίδιάζοντα γνωρίσματα τής Θείας Κωμωδίας είναι ότι, σέ μία έποχή πού τό έλληνορρωμαϊκό παρελθόν άποτελοϋσε άκόμη ταμπού γιά θρησκευτικούς κυρίως λόγους, παρουσιάζει έπιφανεΐς μορφές τής Αρχαιότητας (φιλοσόφους, ποιητές, μυθικούς ήρωες) ως αρνητικά, άλλα καί ώς θετικά πρότυπα. Ή παρουσία των προσώπων αυτών, ιστορικών ή μυθολογικών, στό ποίημα τού Δάντη θεωρείται προάγγελος τής Αναγέννησης καί τού Ούμανισμοΰ.
