This announcement reveals one more pioneer of the Neo-Hippocratism movement. It is Christoph Wilhelm Hufeland (1762-183 6), Professor at the German Universities of Jena (1793) and Berlin (1801), a wise doctor, Hippocratist and Great Philhellene. He proves himself a pioneer of Neo-Hippocratism through his book «About the Duties of a Doctor»,published in 1806. Nineteen years before, at Montpellier, Adamandios Korais had written about the same subject under the title «Medicus Hippocraticus».A broad analysis is provided of Hufeland’s book as well as reference to respective passages of Hippocrates and some of Galen.Finally, some information is given on the pioneers of the Neo-Hippocratism movement in Europe as well as the principles of Neo-Hippocratism as they have been set out by the protagonist of Neo-Hippocratism in our time, Alexander P. Kavadias, Member of the Academy.This reference to the past is of particular interest.
