Epirus does not fall short in the section of theatre. There have been recorded 50 original dramatic texts; amateur theatre groups often give performances; school productions are organised on many occasions (celebrations on anniversaries) even in the most distant villages; professional groups from Athens perform before crowded audiences. All this evidence proves that there is remarkable theatre life in Epirus. This paper contains solely the theatre plays published or staged in Epirus during the period 1900-1950. Whether the original dramatic production - which really shows traces of several trents - was significant or not, is a matter for another kind of study. (The plays imitate mostly what was written or played in Athens).
