Two more rock-cut chamber tombs, dating from the second half of the 3rd and the first half of the 2nd c. BC, were discovered in 1993 and 1994 during digging work on building plots in Pella.Their discovery contributes nothing new to the architectural form, grave offerings and burial customs, but does make a substantial contribution to our knowledge of the topography of the area, particularly of the extent of the east cemetery of the ancientcity. They are the most northerly of the tombs so far known from the cemetery, and fall within the borders of the northward extension of the cluster of tombs investigated in 1989 in the Ap. Chatzopoulos plot. They are thus further confirmation of the fact that the east cemetery extended directly outside the east boundaries of the ancient city, with clusters of tombs covering a distance of about 2,000 m. on a north-south axis.
