Abstract:
In Katouna, Acarnania, where the ancient Medeon or Medion is located, part of an inscribed stele came to light by chance. From the first two lines of the inscription it becomes probable that the stele was dedicated to Artemis by Athenian symperipoloi. From their names only the last letters of the patronymic are preserved, and this makes difficult further conclusions. The inscription is related to a contemporary or a little later bronze tablet in the Ash- molean Museum, as well as to a Me- garian inscription. The probability is expressed that the dedicators were Acarnanians who were serving or had served as Athenian peripoloi.
