September 2001 marked the completion of 10 years of investigations in the prehistoric settlement at Arhondiko. This year’s excavation brought to light five dwellings of the Early Bronze Age (2200-1980 BC), inside which were found clusters of clay structures connected with a variety of everyday activities, such as the storing, preparation, and cooking of food. They included a rather distinctive complex kind of structure connected with the cooking of food.On the basis of these dwellings, certain opinions are presented regarding Early Bronze Age households in Western Macedonia and an initial approach is made to their socioeconomic activities, as also to certain aspects of their ideology.
