Excavational research at ancient Tragilos and Phagres

This paper presents the new excavational data at ancient Tragilos and Phagres during the season of 1989.At Tragilos a part of an ancient cemetery has been excavated. All the tombs were found looted, but from the few finds saved, we come to the conclusion that the cemetery was in use from the end of the 6th century B.C. till the middle 4th century B.C. The site of the Hellenistic settlement has not yet been located. The excavation which was continued this year at Phagres revealed eight semicircular pits cut in the rock. The destination of these pits is yet unknown.
