fiscal policy, which reduced the purchasing power of its inhabitants. Thus,French imports diminished and so the possibility of foreign debtors payingtheir debts was substantially curtailed. The same policy was applied towardsthe Balkan States by the other Great Powers except Germany, which thussecured many advantages, at first in trade and afterwards also in politics.
