The article offers a coverage, adequate in terms of size, of the university courses taught by the writer concerning folklore, which she regards as the main clement, as it were, of her subject, indeed, the backbone, one might say, of anthropology in its general sense. The piece is useful also in virtue of the fact that it documents its arguments with a considerable number of references to works which give the various views of the techniques and methods involved in the complex and demanding task that is fieldwork.
